Your Questions, Answered

While there isn’t an official cut-off for hiring a doula (I’ve actually had clients hire me in labor!), I always encourage families to secure their due date early. Birth workers only take so many clients a month, so the longer you wait the higher the chance of your perfect doula or birth photographer being unavailable!

Yes! I do offer birth photography and film packages separate from doula services. I aim to make my services customizable so each family can build a package that’s right for their family and budget.

I absolutely support families who choose to birth with an epidural! My goal is to help you make informed decisions each step of the way. The epidural has some great benefits - notably the relief from pain. The work isn’t over once you have an epidural, with my knowledge of Spinning Babies and the Body Ready Method, I continue to help support the progress of your labor, as well as your comfort and other needs.

I typically do consultations virtually, either a phone or video call. It’s a casual opportunity to get to know each other: for me to understand your ideal birth scenarios and what you’re looking for in a doula and/or birth photographer, and for you to ask any questions you have! Afterward, I send over a “proposal” of sorts where you can see the different package and add-on options, read through my contracts, and ultimately pay your retainer fee if you’d like to move forward with hiring me.

I am based out of Bulverde, which means I’m geographically close to a ton of areas. While I’ve supported and photographed births as far as north Austin and Houston, I typically serve the surrounding areas of Bulverde, including but not limited to San Antonio, New Braunfels, Boerne, Kerrville, Blanco, and Spring Branch.

The standard in the San Antonio area is usually a 50% retainer to reserve your due date, and then the remained due when I officially go on-call for you at 38 weeks. However, I always like to work with clients’ budgets if they feel I’m the perfect addition to their birth team. I’m always happy to adjust the retainer amount, offer payments spread out monthly, and to discuss ways to make your package more affordable.
